LAURA YANG

I've
always been
storyteller.

But I never set out to be a photographer. I was (and still am!) going to be a writer. And then as I worked toward that writing goal, someone put a camera in my hand and asked me to try telling stories with something besides words. So with an English nerd's love for character and tone, a romantic's love for poignant beauty, and a realist's love for imperfection, I dove in.

I've
always been a
story-teller.

That was back in 2010.

Since that time, photography has changed much of my life. It's brought me some of my dearest friends. It's reshaped the way my husband Danny and I view serving others. It has even literally taken me around the world. One thing that hasn't changed: my soul-stirring desire to tell stories that feel so real you're sure you knew them before you heard them. Or saw them. It's my privilege to tell those stories for my clients, and for the generations of their families still to come.

Do you ever stop to calculate all the blessings that fill up your life? I mean really list them, out loud, or tick them off on your fingers. Here, I’ll help you get started in case you haven’t. I’ve written down a few for all of us. I’m blessed with healthy food to nourish my body and […]

Technically, my job description is the same as its title. I’m hired to photograph couples’ weddings. But I see my job as a lot more than that. I’m the bride’s timeline-organizer, her co-problem-solver, her idea-bouncer-offer, her friend-and-family-wrangler, her day-of-the-wedding-communications-director. And once the wedding day rolls around, I get to remind her, over and over, how fabulously gorgeous […]

If you could accomplish just three things today, what would those things be? Let’s make that question a little broader. If you could accomplish just three things this week — no, wait, let’s say just three things this month — what would those things be? Well, what if you could only accomplish three things this […]

When you were five, where did you think you would be now? Because I was a big kid, when I was five I knew I needed a real job, so I was going to be an important horse trainer. With lots and lots and lots of horses. And maybe I was going to be a […]
