LAURA YANG

I've
always been
storyteller.

But I never set out to be a photographer. I was (and still am!) going to be a writer. And then as I worked toward that writing goal, someone put a camera in my hand and asked me to try telling stories with something besides words. So with an English nerd's love for character and tone, a romantic's love for poignant beauty, and a realist's love for imperfection, I dove in.

I've
always been a
story-teller.

That was back in 2010.

Since that time, photography has changed much of my life. It's brought me some of my dearest friends. It's reshaped the way my husband Danny and I view serving others. It has even literally taken me around the world. One thing that hasn't changed: my soul-stirring desire to tell stories that feel so real you're sure you knew them before you heard them. Or saw them. It's my privilege to tell those stories for my clients, and for the generations of their families still to come.

It was the handkerchiefs that nearly did me in — the handkerchiefs Taylor and Jerry gave their mothers on the morning they got married, thanking each mom for raising her child to be the perfect partner. Then there was the no-look, where Taylor flicked away a few tears as she read Jerry’s card, Jerry standing […]

A few weeks ago, as Danny and I sat at the kitchen table eating dinner, I suddenly set my fork down and just listened to the jazz streaming from our living room. “La Vie En Rose” had just come on. In an instant, I was back in Paris, soaking up the ambiance at La Closerie […]

Something we send to each of our couples is a wedding day tips sheet — some of the things we’ve learned and want to pass on to our couples that will help make their weddings run smoothly and produce great photo ops for them. And one of the key parts of that sheet is our […]

When Danny and I were planning our wedding, we were terribly excited about that specific day — Saturday, November 7th. It was the day I would put on a beautiful gown and we would slip gold bands on each other’s fingers and dance with our friends as we celebrated at the reception. But that wasn’t […]

They’re the type of couple who deserve all the kind words. The type you know are destined for a marriage that will encourage and build up more people than just themselves. The type who should be together. Because, as the pastor preached under the oak tree as these two held hands, two are better than […]
