LAURA YANG

I've
always been
storyteller.

But I never set out to be a photographer. I was (and still am!) going to be a writer. And then as I worked toward that writing goal, someone put a camera in my hand and asked me to try telling stories with something besides words. So with an English nerd's love for character and tone, a romantic's love for poignant beauty, and a realist's love for imperfection, I dove in.

I've
always been a
story-teller.

That was back in 2010.

Since that time, photography has changed much of my life. It's brought me some of my dearest friends. It's reshaped the way my husband Danny and I view serving others. It has even literally taken me around the world. One thing that hasn't changed: my soul-stirring desire to tell stories that feel so real you're sure you knew them before you heard them. Or saw them. It's my privilege to tell those stories for my clients, and for the generations of their families still to come.

Out of all the days in the year, this is one of the most special to me. Every day, I thank God for bringing such a wonderful man into my life. Danny, I can’t even imagine where I would be or what my life would look like if you hadn’t walked into church that Sunday […]

This is one of those busy stretches where I’m feeling a bit overwhelmed — by work, by life, by the fact that I think I get overwhelmed a little bit too easily. In my head, I keep hearing Dory from Finding Nemo. “Just keep swimming, just keep swimming, just keep swimming-swimming-swimming.” Like these little guys. ~ […]

It’s something I didn’t do so well, because I didn’t realize I had to plan it. It’s something some of my friends and some of my brides didn’t know to do, too. It’s something I wish I could re-do. Brides, let me tell you here and now that if you don’t actively plan to make your […]

New Smyrna Beach has a special place in their hearts. It dates back to last year, when they spent a day at the beach together — Callie sitting, Phil pacing the sand, back and forth, back and forth, between Callie and the water. She finally asked him if he was bored and suggested they go […]

They walked back up their aisle, gripping each other’s hands — a familiar feeling, but now excitingly unfamiliar with the addition of wedding bands on their ring fingers. Amanda and Shane stopped as they rounded the corner and wrapped themselves into each other’s arms. As he reached up to brush away tears, his best man […]
