LAURA YANG

I've
always been
storyteller.

But I never set out to be a photographer. I was (and still am!) going to be a writer. And then as I worked toward that writing goal, someone put a camera in my hand and asked me to try telling stories with something besides words. So with an English nerd's love for character and tone, a romantic's love for poignant beauty, and a realist's love for imperfection, I dove in.

I've
always been a
story-teller.

That was back in 2010.

Since that time, photography has changed much of my life. It's brought me some of my dearest friends. It's reshaped the way my husband Danny and I view serving others. It has even literally taken me around the world. One thing that hasn't changed: my soul-stirring desire to tell stories that feel so real you're sure you knew them before you heard them. Or saw them. It's my privilege to tell those stories for my clients, and for the generations of their families still to come.

She was ready, Jordan said, to stop referring to Wes as her “fiance.” It had been nearly two and a half years that he’d become her fiance instead of her boyfriend. It was good and time for him to be her husband. And really, neither of could have been any happier about it.Have a wonderful […]

I remember the start of my wedding day very distinctly. As I woke up, my eyes settled on a stack of books on my floor — I can’t remember what books they were, though — and I simply thought, “Yup, this is my wedding day.” Then I got up, took a shower, and drove to […]

We’ve wrapped up our engagement sessions for 2012, and tomorrow marks our 14th and final wedding of the year. So I thought this seemed like the perfect time to revisit this year’s engagement sessions and share a few of my favorite images of 2012. . . . At the beginning of January, we played around […]

This whole week, we’ve been having the foggiest mornings I can recall. The air is thick with tiny water particles, clogging my eyes as soon as I step outside my door. Even at 9:00 on this December morning, it looks like dusk.Perfect for Christmas lights and a cozy Monday morning working at my desk. ~ […]
