LAURA YANG

I've
always been
storyteller.

But I never set out to be a photographer. I was (and still am!) going to be a writer. And then as I worked toward that writing goal, someone put a camera in my hand and asked me to try telling stories with something besides words. So with an English nerd's love for character and tone, a romantic's love for poignant beauty, and a realist's love for imperfection, I dove in.

I've
always been a
story-teller.

That was back in 2010.

Since that time, photography has changed much of my life. It's brought me some of my dearest friends. It's reshaped the way my husband Danny and I view serving others. It has even literally taken me around the world. One thing that hasn't changed: my soul-stirring desire to tell stories that feel so real you're sure you knew them before you heard them. Or saw them. It's my privilege to tell those stories for my clients, and for the generations of their families still to come.

Several weeks ago, we talked about the importance of a wedding day timeline. In case I didn’t make it clear then, let me repeat it now: A realistic timeline is essential to making sure your wedding day runs smoothly. Also essential is making sure that your whole bridal party, family, and your wedding vendors all know when […]

We got in the car at the end of the day, and the first words I said to Danny were, “God really blesses His people.” Caitlin and David’s wedding was a beautiful testament of not only God’s love for His people, but His people’s love for Him, and for each other. One thousand guests — […]

This past Sunday, our pastor preached about how Abraham Lincoln established an annual Thanksgiving day in the most trying of times. Although days of  Thanksgiving had been observed since the pilgrims, Lincoln established the first annual Thanksgiving holiday. It took place in November 1863, only four months after the battle at Gettysburg cut short roughly […]

It’s a story I share frequently. So why not share it again, right? It goes something like this: For our wedding, Danny and I had decided we wanted pies in lieu of a wedding cake. I’m still quite satisfied with that decision — it suited us perfectly. We decided we — my mom, aunt, and […]

Every detail had fallen into place. Their months and months of planning had finally paid off with a dazzlingly beautiful fall day, brimming with all the DIY and personalized details Molly and Oscar had conjured up. There was Molly’s broach bouquet, adorned with pins from both sides of the family. There were the wonderful treasure […]
