LAURA YANG

I've
always been
storyteller.

But I never set out to be a photographer. I was (and still am!) going to be a writer. And then as I worked toward that writing goal, someone put a camera in my hand and asked me to try telling stories with something besides words. So with an English nerd's love for character and tone, a romantic's love for poignant beauty, and a realist's love for imperfection, I dove in.

I've
always been a
story-teller.

That was back in 2010.

Since that time, photography has changed much of my life. It's brought me some of my dearest friends. It's reshaped the way my husband Danny and I view serving others. It has even literally taken me around the world. One thing that hasn't changed: my soul-stirring desire to tell stories that feel so real you're sure you knew them before you heard them. Or saw them. It's my privilege to tell those stories for my clients, and for the generations of their families still to come.

For months, I’d been waiting for sweater weather. For boots and scarves weather. I’d even blogged about it because I was so, so excited when it was finally time to pull my boots on. Today is gray and raw looking, and while 55 degrees sounds perfectly balmy in some states at this time of the […]

I don’t know about you, but I’m loving the “Month of Thankfulness” status updates on Facebook a whole lot more than the stormy political ones that dominated my news feed for the past six weeks. But I decided not to participate. While I’m fully on board with being purposefully thankful, there’s also something that doesn’t […]

Not quite one month ago, Claire and Bill’s dreamy, romantic wedding just about stopped my heart with all its prettiness. The gorgeous flowers, the filmy lace gown, the elegant venues, the antique touches. It was the stuff wedding dreams are made of . . . and clearly, I wasn’t the only one who thought so. […]

They had worked long and hard — and secretly — to prepare for that one part of their wedding. And then the lights dimmed, the music washed through the room . . . and the new Mr. and Mrs. Levy owned the dance floor. That’s kind of how Tammy and Marc’s wedding felt all day: Not […]

We had a wedding on Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., and a wedding on Saturday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Delighted for our couples? Of course. Thrilled with the photographs? Absolutely. Exhausted? You bet your last nickle. Today is a day for many cups of tea and a trip to the chiropractor. And probably […]
