LAURA YANG

I've
always been
storyteller.

But I never set out to be a photographer. I was (and still am!) going to be a writer. And then as I worked toward that writing goal, someone put a camera in my hand and asked me to try telling stories with something besides words. So with an English nerd's love for character and tone, a romantic's love for poignant beauty, and a realist's love for imperfection, I dove in.

I've
always been a
story-teller.

That was back in 2010.

Since that time, photography has changed much of my life. It's brought me some of my dearest friends. It's reshaped the way my husband Danny and I view serving others. It has even literally taken me around the world. One thing that hasn't changed: my soul-stirring desire to tell stories that feel so real you're sure you knew them before you heard them. Or saw them. It's my privilege to tell those stories for my clients, and for the generations of their families still to come.

“I think I’m going to laugh,” Tammy said. She was talking about her first look. Seeing her groom for the first time, as he saw her in her wedding gown for the first time. And then when that time came, of course she cried instead. Tammy and Marc, you had a truly beautiful wedding yesterday! […]

They looked at each other with so much love and mutual admiration in their eyes. And no, I’m not talking about the bride and her groom just yet — I’m talking about the bride and her mother. Claire looked like she was smiling back tears; Sandra looked like the pride and excitement and joy were […]

It’s a common problem that photographers discuss: A couple plans their wedding ceremony for sunset. (Which is wonderful.) They tell their photographer they do not want to have a first look and see each other before the ceremony. (Which is perfectly fine.) And they have their heart set on portraits that look like this:The sad […]

. . . it’s boots and sweaters time!Well, the scarf and hat might be a slight exaggeration. But it was 43 degrees here this morning, and you know that’s pretty much the same thing as -10 to this Florida girl! ~ Laura
