LAURA YANG

I've
always been
storyteller.

But I never set out to be a photographer. I was (and still am!) going to be a writer. And then as I worked toward that writing goal, someone put a camera in my hand and asked me to try telling stories with something besides words. So with an English nerd's love for character and tone, a romantic's love for poignant beauty, and a realist's love for imperfection, I dove in.

I've
always been a
story-teller.

That was back in 2010.

Since that time, photography has changed much of my life. It's brought me some of my dearest friends. It's reshaped the way my husband Danny and I view serving others. It has even literally taken me around the world. One thing that hasn't changed: my soul-stirring desire to tell stories that feel so real you're sure you knew them before you heard them. Or saw them. It's my privilege to tell those stories for my clients, and for the generations of their families still to come.

Claire checked her appearance from one angle, then another as her bridesmaids lifted her gown down from the closet. She patted her bun of curls as her mother gathered up Claire’s jewelry and veil to head to the church. I had to ask. “So, does it feel real? Do you feel like a bride?” She […]

We’d been hearing a lot of buzz about PASS for months before we decided to give it a go ourselves. I mean, we were kind of in love with the beautiful custom DVD cases we create for our clients, and our clients were in love with them, too. But there were just too many compelling […]

Danny and I sat down to start working on our guest list shortly after we got engaged. Then we became overwhelmed and put it off as long as we possibly could. Let’s face it: When it comes to the most fun wedding planning activities, drafting, then slashing, a guest list doesn’t rank at the top. […]

In August, I got a message from Valentina of Valentina Glidden Photography, a photographer whose work I’ve followed and admired for almost a year now. Valentina was traveling to Orlando from California for a wedding in early September, and the second shooter she’d had lined up had cancelled, so Valentina wondered if I knew anyone […]

Well, it’s October. That means baseball — usually the best baseball of the year, and for the most part, the games have been great. Although I have to send a quick shout out to a few umpires for making the first two ALCS games between the Yankees and Tigers some of the best examples of […]
