LAURA YANG

I've
always been
storyteller.

But I never set out to be a photographer. I was (and still am!) going to be a writer. And then as I worked toward that writing goal, someone put a camera in my hand and asked me to try telling stories with something besides words. So with an English nerd's love for character and tone, a romantic's love for poignant beauty, and a realist's love for imperfection, I dove in.

I've
always been a
story-teller.

That was back in 2010.

Since that time, photography has changed much of my life. It's brought me some of my dearest friends. It's reshaped the way my husband Danny and I view serving others. It has even literally taken me around the world. One thing that hasn't changed: my soul-stirring desire to tell stories that feel so real you're sure you knew them before you heard them. Or saw them. It's my privilege to tell those stories for my clients, and for the generations of their families still to come.

When we head out to a wedding, I tuck a fancy satin hanger, or a simple cedar hanger, into my car. At the wedding I second shot with Valentina Glidden earlier this month (which you’ll be seeing on the blog in the coming weeks), I spotted a couple hangers peeking out of her Think Tank […]

We were down to the last hours of summer. George and I sat on the slope of the front lawn, he nestled against my leg intently, eyeing a neighbor’s open garage door for signs of the life he heard inside, I sprawled in the grass, soaking up the almost-autumn air. Rich golden sunlight played across […]

This is something that’s been slow-simmering in my pot of ideas for some time now. Back in the day, when I was engaged, I started a blog to help other brides plan their weddings. I even  started working on a book about planning, from the perspective of a bride. But, being busy (you know, my […]

For today’s totally random lunch, I credit the aggressive grocery budget Danny and I put ourselves on in July. Well, that and the fact that I really, really didn’t want to have to make a trip to the grocery store this morning. So I decided I was going to scrounge up something quick and unexpected for lunch. […]

Where has the time gone?! How has it already been a whole year since Kim and Darin’s destination wedding on the Sundancer yacht at Hammock Beach Resort? It was a beautiful, if blustery, day when Kim slipped into her breathtaking gown, Darin buttoned up his Nautica suit (and ironed his tie once he’d knotted it around his […]

I always know when the lawn crew has stepped onto our property. Sometimes it’s the tell-tale sounds of lawn mowers or leaf blowers that clues me in. More often than not though, it’s George barking at them in his trademarked blend of faux-ferocity and anxiety that he’s not going to get the chance to actually […]
