When I was in college and she was little, I knew Lunden because she took riding lessons at my stable. Years later, now she’s the teenager with a horse, getting ready to head off to college next fall, and so to celebrate her senior year, we hung out with her warmblood gelding Caluso and created some seriously gorgeous portraits on the perfect spring afternoon.
This right here is what it feels like to be a girl with a horse. It’s the best way to be a teenager. And Lunden, you looked seriously stunning! We wanted Caluso to hang out and graze nearby so he could be a part of the backdrop while I shot some portraits of Lunden alone in the glowy light. But Caluso decided that was the perfect time to play a bucking bronco, and he ran wild through the field with Lunden’s mom tirelessly trying to catch up and catch him. And then he just happened to run behind Lunden for the perfect shot! You can’t plan a picture like that. Or if you did, inevitably the horse would decide he doesn’t feel like running. So Caluso, thanks for one of the coolest pictures ever!
Serious favorite. And then Lunden changed up her outfits and we changed settings. On that windy evening at high tide, we had the beach almost all to ourselves, and Lunden definitely made the most of it.
Thanks for the amazing shoot, Lunden, and congratulations on your upcoming graduation!
