I've
always been
storyteller.

But I never set out to be a photographer. I was (and still am!) going to be a writer. And then as I worked toward that writing goal, someone put a camera in my hand and asked me to try telling stories with something besides words. So with an English nerd's love for character and tone, a romantic's love for poignant beauty, and a realist's love for imperfection, I dove in.

I've
always been a
story-teller.

That was back in 2010.

Since that time, photography has changed much of my life. It's brought me some of my dearest friends. It's reshaped the way my husband Danny and I view serving others. It has even literally taken me around the world. One thing that hasn't changed: my soul-stirring desire to tell stories that feel so real you're sure you knew them before you heard them. Or saw them. It's my privilege to tell those stories for my clients, and for the generations of their families still to come.

When I was a little girl, I wanted a horse more than anything in the world because I knew there wouldn’t be anything quite like having a horse of my own. When I was a teenager, I got one, and I found out I’d been right. And Erika’s life followed the very same path. I […]

A year after photographing Chelsie and Josh’s wedding on her family’s spectacular property, and four years after photographing Taylor and Jerry’s wedding, I headed back down for a full set of family portraits — just this time, without any wedding attire. Of course, these portraits wouldn’t have been complete without several of their Gypsy Vanner horses […]

It was about five months after she initially contacted me about doing portraits with her thoroughbreds that we finally made them happen, and, oh, fall was worth the wait! Having experienced it myself, I’m a big believer in the bond between a girl and her horse. Or horses. Or a woman and her horse. Or horses. […]

When I was in college and she was little, I knew Lunden because she took riding lessons at my stable. Years later, now she’s the teenager with a horse, getting ready to head off to college next fall, and so to celebrate her senior year, we hung out with her warmblood gelding Caluso and created some seriously […]

When I first heard from Ava and Scott, it was because Ava knew Chelsie and Josh, and I figured that’s what happens in a fairly small town, particularly in the horse community. Then I learned Ava’s family breeds Arabian horses, and I realized this was more than just a small-town coincidence: her family bred my […]
