I've
always been
storyteller.

But I never set out to be a photographer. I was (and still am!) going to be a writer. And then as I worked toward that writing goal, someone put a camera in my hand and asked me to try telling stories with something besides words. So with an English nerd's love for character and tone, a romantic's love for poignant beauty, and a realist's love for imperfection, I dove in.

I've
always been a
story-teller.

That was back in 2010.

Since that time, photography has changed much of my life. It's brought me some of my dearest friends. It's reshaped the way my husband Danny and I view serving others. It has even literally taken me around the world. One thing that hasn't changed: my soul-stirring desire to tell stories that feel so real you're sure you knew them before you heard them. Or saw them. It's my privilege to tell those stories for my clients, and for the generations of their families still to come.

After several days of overcast skies, high winds, intermittent rain (and one cancelled photo shoot as a result), and general dreariness, I can’t tell you how excited I was when I woke up to sunlight yesterday morning. Beautiful, rejuvenating sunlight. And I wasn’t the only one grateful for it.Our pink bougainvillea was finally blooming again! […]

Sometimes you just need to head down roads you don’t know. Sometimes you need to just go exploring. And sometimes you need to just park your car and go for a walk in the woods. Or along a boardwalk criss-crossing a lake covered with alien life forms — otherwise known as lily pads.Yesterday afternoon, Danny […]

After a wedding weekend, I try to spend the majority of Monday not working. I clean the house, I run errands. Basically, anything I would normally do on a weekend to keep my life running smoothly. Yesterday I did a so-so job of that. I still spent the morning culling images, responding to emails. Then I […]

I sat on the airplane, in an aisle seat, slowly turning through the pages of my little journal, rubbing the soft suede that had begun to peel away from the paper. The man in the seat next to me lowered the armrest between us, but I could tell he was only trying to make it […]
