I've
always been
storyteller.

But I never set out to be a photographer. I was (and still am!) going to be a writer. And then as I worked toward that writing goal, someone put a camera in my hand and asked me to try telling stories with something besides words. So with an English nerd's love for character and tone, a romantic's love for poignant beauty, and a realist's love for imperfection, I dove in.

I've
always been a
story-teller.

That was back in 2010.

Since that time, photography has changed much of my life. It's brought me some of my dearest friends. It's reshaped the way my husband Danny and I view serving others. It has even literally taken me around the world. One thing that hasn't changed: my soul-stirring desire to tell stories that feel so real you're sure you knew them before you heard them. Or saw them. It's my privilege to tell those stories for my clients, and for the generations of their families still to come.

We’re back! Back to palm trees, wide white beaches, palmettos, humid nights, sudden rainstorms, vibrant bougainvilleas, skinny pines, chirping alligators, pesky mosquitoes, our sweet home. And now I’m off to an overnight meeting in Ocala. One night in my own bed, then gone again. And then off to Orlando bright and early Saturday for wedding […]

Some mornings when I let George out, he decides I’m not worth listening to. As in, he pretends not to hear when I call him back to the house. Lucky for me, there’s a word in my vocabulary that’s much stronger than “come.” That word is “snack.” And this is the stinker Georges-Pierre sitting at […]

What a wonderful week and a half. What a wonderful, busy week and a half. It went something like this: Drive all day to Virginia with Amanda / Julie arrives / Pick Rob up from Dulles / Chipotle! / Walk the Manassas battlefield / Drive to Rockville for delicious Ethiopian food with Julie’s college friends / […]

As a teenager, I spent the entire year looking forward to Camp Kulaqua. As an adult now, I spend the entire year helping plan for it. Then it rushes by in a whirlwind of laughter and singing and too-little sleep and much-needed caffeine. And I think I love it just as much now as I […]

I know, yesterday’s blog post featured a picture of flowers front and center — but I can’t help it; I have to share more flowers today. These came from Callie + Phil’s wedding. Callie’s mother sent us home with one of the stunning centerpieces from Fairbanks Florist at the end of the night. How could we […]
