I've
always been
storyteller.

But I never set out to be a photographer. I was (and still am!) going to be a writer. And then as I worked toward that writing goal, someone put a camera in my hand and asked me to try telling stories with something besides words. So with an English nerd's love for character and tone, a romantic's love for poignant beauty, and a realist's love for imperfection, I dove in.

I've
always been a
story-teller.

That was back in 2010.

Since that time, photography has changed much of my life. It's brought me some of my dearest friends. It's reshaped the way my husband Danny and I view serving others. It has even literally taken me around the world. One thing that hasn't changed: my soul-stirring desire to tell stories that feel so real you're sure you knew them before you heard them. Or saw them. It's my privilege to tell those stories for my clients, and for the generations of their families still to come.

My friends, isn’t that the truth?(Adorable print by Green Tie Studio, but sadly no longer available in their shop.) Since September, I’ve had this on my desk, right where I see it any time my eyes slip away from my computer screen. I need it there. I need it where I can see it almost constantly. I […]

A couple weeks ago as I lay face-down on a massage table, I told our chiropractor that Danny and I were about to head up to Georgia for a marriage conference. “Again? Didn’t you just go?!” Yes, one year before. And we had gone one year before that, too. Actually, we plan to go every […]

When I set out to scale back my blogging last year, I wasn’t intending to nearly abandon the blog altogether, save for posting a few photo shoots and weddings here and there. Then again — when I set out to start a photography business early in 2011, I wasn’t intending to become a blogger! Sometimes […]

February has felt like a whirlwind — and somehow, it’s already almost over. Things have slowed down the last couple of days, but even in the middle of the busyness, it’s been a great second month of the year! Last week, Danny’s family visited for several days. We had a great time with them — shopping, hitting […]

It has been too long since Danny and I left the country. Too long. Coming up on four and a half years, in fact. Since then, we’ve zig-zagged across the good old U.S.A. . . . but we (specifically I) get antsy after a while. There’s so much to see out there, so much to […]

On the night of December 30th, as I brushed my teeth in our bathroom in Danny’s parents’ Virginia home, I realized something that, for the moment, felt devastatingly sad. I’d left my journal — all my journals — in Florida. My prayer journal, my writing journal, my beautiful Intentional Home journal. I had not a single piece […]
