I've
always been
storyteller.

But I never set out to be a photographer. I was (and still am!) going to be a writer. And then as I worked toward that writing goal, someone put a camera in my hand and asked me to try telling stories with something besides words. So with an English nerd's love for character and tone, a romantic's love for poignant beauty, and a realist's love for imperfection, I dove in.

I've
always been a
story-teller.

That was back in 2010.

Since that time, photography has changed much of my life. It's brought me some of my dearest friends. It's reshaped the way my husband Danny and I view serving others. It has even literally taken me around the world. One thing that hasn't changed: my soul-stirring desire to tell stories that feel so real you're sure you knew them before you heard them. Or saw them. It's my privilege to tell those stories for my clients, and for the generations of their families still to come.

I sat down to write this blog post a couple days before Thanksgiving — because, let’s face it, a Thanksgiving Day blog post feels kinda obligatory. So I thought about all the wonderful things I have to be thankful for. And then I thought about how incredibly easy it is to be thankful for the things that […]

Five years of marriage have gone by so quickly. It feels as if I took a breath on that crisp afternoon when we got married, and by the time I exhaled, here we are: Five years farther into our lives, into this adventure, into learning each other so deeply, so profoundly. These have been the best […]

After an early birthday dinner at my parents’ house on Sunday, my brother told me there was something I needed to see. So we all trooped into the family room, where he turned on a VHS he’d found — an old home movie, first of his seventh birthday (highlight: as he listened to the musical candle on […]

Yesterday was day 14 of what started innocently enough as a 7-day vegan cleanse. Disclaimer: Yes, I know the salads below aren’t vegan. They include cheese. And yes, for two weeks, I’ve eaten no cheese, no meat, no fish, no milk, no eggs, no butter, no dairy of any kind. In short, I’ve eaten nothing […]

One week ago at this moment, I was on a hillside in Georgia, surrounded by some of the most beautiful hearts I’ve ever been blessed to know. We sat together on sunny lawns and wandered around the lake, just soaking in the first warm, tip-toeing hints of autumn. We sipped tea and coffee late into […]

Does anyone else have the same feeling I have — that it was April, you blinked, and now you’re staring down the last days of summer?!Some people dread the end of summer, but here in Florida, as soon as the calendar says spring is officially over, I pretty much start counting down the days until […]
