I've
always been
storyteller.

But I never set out to be a photographer. I was (and still am!) going to be a writer. And then as I worked toward that writing goal, someone put a camera in my hand and asked me to try telling stories with something besides words. So with an English nerd's love for character and tone, a romantic's love for poignant beauty, and a realist's love for imperfection, I dove in.

I've
always been a
story-teller.

That was back in 2010.

Since that time, photography has changed much of my life. It's brought me some of my dearest friends. It's reshaped the way my husband Danny and I view serving others. It has even literally taken me around the world. One thing that hasn't changed: my soul-stirring desire to tell stories that feel so real you're sure you knew them before you heard them. Or saw them. It's my privilege to tell those stories for my clients, and for the generations of their families still to come.

Remember how we photographed Eileen and Phillip of Blume Photography when we were at CONNECT? Well, they photographed us, too, and here are a few of our favorites! (I shared these a few days ago on my personal Facebook page, but I’m sharing them here now for anyone who isn’t friends with me on Facebook. And […]

Some things in our lives are hard to admit, even to ourselves. Some things are just plain easier to tune out, or put off, or actively combat, because they’re too scary, difficult,, complicated, improbable. But if those things are the very same dreams in which you find happiness and contentment and purpose, if they’re the […]

For the past several days, since Danny and I left WinShape‘s quaint, almost Alpine-esque village in North Georgia’s rolling hills, I’ve been struggling to explain exactly what happened last week. A handful of people have asked me, “So how was that retreat?” and I’ve stammered to articulate a response more coherent and specific than, “Amazing!” […]

For months — no, closer to two years, actually — I’ve updated this blog five days a week, with rare exceptions. A couple weeks ago, I explained that that was going to change. I’ve had less of a presence on the blog and on Facebook, and I’ve been more present in living my life, chasing […]

Let me be completely honest: I love photography. I love the magic that happens when two people who are in love step in front of my camera, and I have the opportunity to showcase that love, to make it more captivating and immediate and real than the couple has ever imagined their love could look.I love […]

Two weeks ago today, Danny and I were on the road to Virginia. The night before, as Danny and I were snuggled into the couch watching the Olympics, his sister called him. That alone told Danny something was wrong — his sister is an avid texter, but she never calls. Ever. Except that night. She […]
