I've
always been
storyteller.

But I never set out to be a photographer. I was (and still am!) going to be a writer. And then as I worked toward that writing goal, someone put a camera in my hand and asked me to try telling stories with something besides words. So with an English nerd's love for character and tone, a romantic's love for poignant beauty, and a realist's love for imperfection, I dove in.

I've
always been a
story-teller.

That was back in 2010.

Since that time, photography has changed much of my life. It's brought me some of my dearest friends. It's reshaped the way my husband Danny and I view serving others. It has even literally taken me around the world. One thing that hasn't changed: my soul-stirring desire to tell stories that feel so real you're sure you knew them before you heard them. Or saw them. It's my privilege to tell those stories for my clients, and for the generations of their families still to come.

A couple years ago, when I photographed her older sister, Kellie tagged along for Kaitlyn’s shoot. Kellie was interested in photography — creating it, not just being in it — and then this summer I heard from Kellie’s mom. She was going to be a senior this year, and it was time for her own set […]

Last week, Kassidie and I got together for her senior portraits at Coleman Farms on the first afternoon this year that hinted fall is just around the corner. We played with mini horses and found a random (and perfect!) rowboat out in the pasture, Kassidie took a bareback ride around the property, and we couldn’t have […]

It’s been a long time since I blogged any Daytona Beach senior portraits, but today Shona is making the blog beautiful! I absolutely loved her bright, playful, beachy, Lilly Pulitzer-centric style, her ready laugh and her sparkling eyes. After shooting at a nearby park and then a quick outfit change (LOVE that Lilly dress!), we […]

When I found out Alicia wanted to do senior portraits with her Thoroughbred, Leo, out at Hidden Creek Stable, I knew we were going to make some magic. I’d photographed at Hidden Creek before, late this summer, so I’d already seen what a perfect place it is for pictures. But take one high school girl with […]

A couple months ago, I had the absolute pleasure of wandering Downtown Daytona Beach with Nancy for her senior portraits. It was a beautiful afternoon, filled with glowy sunlight and nonstop laughter. Nancy had wanted a shoot that was a little bit urban, a little bit natural, so we found the perfect setting along the […]

It was rainy. It was cold. And it was windy. But Brittany absolutely rocked her senior portrait session! This was another shoot, like Jacy‘s, where I could hardly believe that I was working with this almost-grownup girl, because I’d first met her when she was only a toddler, and a friend of my oldest nephew’s. We had planned […]
