LAURA YANG

I've
always been
storyteller.

But I never set out to be a photographer. I was (and still am!) going to be a writer. And then as I worked toward that writing goal, someone put a camera in my hand and asked me to try telling stories with something besides words. So with an English nerd's love for character and tone, a romantic's love for poignant beauty, and a realist's love for imperfection, I dove in.

I've
always been a
story-teller.

That was back in 2010.

Since that time, photography has changed much of my life. It's brought me some of my dearest friends. It's reshaped the way my husband Danny and I view serving others. It has even literally taken me around the world. One thing that hasn't changed: my soul-stirring desire to tell stories that feel so real you're sure you knew them before you heard them. Or saw them. It's my privilege to tell those stories for my clients, and for the generations of their families still to come.

At our wedding reception, Danny and I made a point of speaking with every one of our guests. Not just saying hello in passing, but going table to table, really engaging our guests in conversation, catching up on their lives, and making sure they felt appreciated and welcomed at our celebration. It’s one of the […]

Every few days, at least, someone will ask, “How’s the photography business going?” Inevitably, I’ll reply something along the lines of, “It’s keeping me busy.” After a while, it became easy for me to predict the next question: “So you’re shooting a lot of weddings?” The answer is yes and no. Because Danny and I […]

I have spontaneously decided to take the day off. Because you only turn the age of your birth date once. It’s my birthday, and I plan to enjoy it. 🙂 ~ Laura

“Do you think we should shake up the order of the photos we’re showing in our galleries on our website? Put more emphasis on the details instead of showing just portraits and candid shots?” Danny was finishing up his lunch when he asked this, while I had barely put a dent in mine because, as […]

When I came home from the Pursuit 31 Conference a couple weeks ago, feeling absolutely energized and on fire, I knew it was time to change up my daily routine. It was time to slow down and finally get into a rhythm of starting my mornings with Jesus. So, since then, my mornings have involved pulling […]

Lace and tulle and English net and more lace. I love veils. This year, apparently, so do our brides. Only two of our 2013 brides to date have opted out of wearing a veil, and we’ve shot seven weddings this year in which the bride chose a cathedral veil. That’s right, a veil even longer than the […]
