LAURA YANG

I've
always been
storyteller.

But I never set out to be a photographer. I was (and still am!) going to be a writer. And then as I worked toward that writing goal, someone put a camera in my hand and asked me to try telling stories with something besides words. So with an English nerd's love for character and tone, a romantic's love for poignant beauty, and a realist's love for imperfection, I dove in.

I've
always been a
story-teller.

That was back in 2010.

Since that time, photography has changed much of my life. It's brought me some of my dearest friends. It's reshaped the way my husband Danny and I view serving others. It has even literally taken me around the world. One thing that hasn't changed: my soul-stirring desire to tell stories that feel so real you're sure you knew them before you heard them. Or saw them. It's my privilege to tell those stories for my clients, and for the generations of their families still to come.

After a wedding weekend, I try to spend the majority of Monday not working. I clean the house, I run errands. Basically, anything I would normally do on a weekend to keep my life running smoothly. Yesterday I did a so-so job of that. I still spent the morning culling images, responding to emails. Then I […]

It was the first day of the fall when it finally felt as if the windows were begging to be flung open. A crisp, undeniably autumnal sky shone vibrantly blue over Downtown Orlando on what can only be described as a perfect fall day. There’s no question that it was perfect for Claire and Bill. […]

A couple days ago, I read this article from RockNRoll Bride about how competition is good for everyone, and I wanted to stand up and clap. Kat, (the editor/writer behind the popular blog) was just so fearlessly unconcerned with stepping on toes — she just wanted to set the record straight for those of us who might […]

I came home from the Pursuit 31 Conference seven days ago, absolutely on fire and embracing this life God has given me. It isn’t exactly where I thought I would be at this point — a much younger version of me had assumed there would be multiple children and bestselling novels by the age of almost-twenty-eight. […]

I’m going to guess that you’ve heard the adage “too many cooks in the kitchen” before you read the title of my blog post today. Just in case you haven’t, it simply means that, when it comes to making a decision or series of decisions, there can be such a thing as too many people […]

For way too long, we’ve worked in an overcrowded, always-cluttered office. And now, as of this weekend, I can say that in the past tense: We had worked in an overcrowded, always-cluttered office, but we don’t anymore! Our office isn’t beautifully appointed with the most stylish furniture and decor, but it’s clean, functional, and gives me […]
