I've
always been
storyteller.

But I never set out to be a photographer. I was (and still am!) going to be a writer. And then as I worked toward that writing goal, someone put a camera in my hand and asked me to try telling stories with something besides words. So with an English nerd's love for character and tone, a romantic's love for poignant beauty, and a realist's love for imperfection, I dove in.

I've
always been a
story-teller.

That was back in 2010.

Since that time, photography has changed much of my life. It's brought me some of my dearest friends. It's reshaped the way my husband Danny and I view serving others. It has even literally taken me around the world. One thing that hasn't changed: my soul-stirring desire to tell stories that feel so real you're sure you knew them before you heard them. Or saw them. It's my privilege to tell those stories for my clients, and for the generations of their families still to come.

February has felt like a whirlwind — and somehow, it’s already almost over. Things have slowed down the last couple of days, but even in the middle of the busyness, it’s been a great second month of the year! Last week, Danny’s family visited for several days. So, Pinterest and I have never been BFFs, until recently when I went on a vegan-food-pinning kick. And then when Danny and I decided we wanted to have a photo booth at our Christmas parties! DIY gold metallic backdrop for the win! It had been a few years since we had hosted a Christmas party, and-oh-my-goodness-why-didn’t-we-do-this-every-December?! […]

On the first Sunday of Advent this year, Danny and I lit the first Advent candle at church. Two days before, the day after Thanksgiving, we kicked off the Christmas carols and put up our tree, our nativity scene, our mantle decor. A few days after that, we went and got some fresh evergreen boughs and […]

Five years of marriage have gone by so quickly. It feels as if I took a breath on that crisp afternoon when we got married, and by the time I exhaled, here we are: Five years farther into our lives, into this adventure, into learning each other so deeply, so profoundly. These have been the best […]

After an early birthday dinner at my parents’ house on Sunday, my brother told me there was something I needed to see. So we all trooped into the family room, where he turned on a VHS he’d found — an old home movie, first of his seventh birthday (highlight: as he listened to the musical candle on […]

One week ago at this moment, I was on a hillside in Georgia, surrounded by some of the most beautiful hearts I’ve ever been blessed to know. We sat together on sunny lawns and wandered around the lake, just soaking in the first warm, tip-toeing hints of autumn. We sipped tea and coffee late into […]
