I've
always been
storyteller.

But I never set out to be a photographer. I was (and still am!) going to be a writer. And then as I worked toward that writing goal, someone put a camera in my hand and asked me to try telling stories with something besides words. So with an English nerd's love for character and tone, a romantic's love for poignant beauty, and a realist's love for imperfection, I dove in.

I've
always been a
story-teller.

That was back in 2010.

Since that time, photography has changed much of my life. It's brought me some of my dearest friends. It's reshaped the way my husband Danny and I view serving others. It has even literally taken me around the world. One thing that hasn't changed: my soul-stirring desire to tell stories that feel so real you're sure you knew them before you heard them. Or saw them. It's my privilege to tell those stories for my clients, and for the generations of their families still to come.

Of course a couple who came all the way from the other side of the country — where it rarely rains — to get married in the Sunshine State would be greeted with the remnants of a tropical storm! Emily and Demien took it like champs. They embraced the sunny-then-stormy afternoon at Vilano Beach, just north […]

When they met, it was like a scene out of a romantic comedy: A potential romantic interest Denie had not clicked with brought Tyler, who he knew through work, into Denie’s office. “Denie, meet Tyler. Tyler, meet Denie,” he said. Then he left, leaving Denie a wee bit flustered. Tyler insisted that he’d been charmed — […]

They met in high school, in their home town of Orlando. Then, together, they headed off to college at the University of Florida. Then Mike moved on to get his masters in journalism at Northwestern — and Colleen couldn’t go with him, because she had her new nursing job back home. But once Mike landed […]

Oh, Kristin and Billy, if every couple were as happy as you two, the world would be filled with far more smiles. I’ve known Kristin for years — since I was in elementary school. When we met, and she was the sophisticated seventh grade student to my lowly fourth grader, I was in awe of […]

They met online, last winter, then met in person to make sure the other person really was who he/she appeared to be. And wasn’t, Chris quipped, “A mouth breather or something.” Amy laughed, shaking her head. That seems to be the way their relationship goes: Chris riffs; Amy can’t help but laugh; and they both wind […]

It was over a year ago, in the hall at Oceanside Country Club as Kristy restyled her hair before her reception, when Kelly and I first crossed paths. I said I loved her dress. She said she loved my photography. And that she would be sending me an email when she got engaged. That email arrived just […]
